AMD announced initial 45nm “Shanghai” and “Deneb” Quad-Core processors are running server and client operating systems, respectively, in development systems at AMD.  The milestone was noted as momentum builds toward delivery of first AMD 45nm products to customers later this year.

ECS Factory Tour:

I was invited by Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) to tour two of its factories. The first factory on tour was the PCB production facility. The second was the motherboard assembly plant. We were shown the many steps a motherboard goes through from inception to final product.

AMD's newfound zest for life has made it look for what would really, really hurt the competition. The answer? the game developers. I'm not sure if you've heard, but Blizzard has grown pretty big these days. World of WarCraft has been an indescribable success.
